I may have forgotten how to do this.
Taking a year off from blogging was totally the right move. In the past year, I have laid the groundwork for my budding physical therapy career, spent almost 100% of my evenings making dinner for and putting my son to bed, and remained committed to date night with my man. It’s been a good year.
Graduating, passing my boards, and getting my first job as a full-time physical therapist have been my focus. Now that I’m settled into my new role, I’m recharged and motivated to share with you all things running, PT, working out, Hamilton (wait, how did that get there?), and life related.
So what’s up first? Let’s start with I still haven’t really run a race. In almost 3 years, I’ve done some 5Ks, a 10K, a 5-miler, and basically no real racing.
I feel ready to try to kick my own butt again. I feel refreshed and strong (not something I felt post-partum) and a little more free to take time for myself to train (again, not something I’ve felt in a good, long while).
There’s an awful lot of mommy guilt out there, something I imagine I’ll spend a fair amount of time discussing here. Training for a half isn’t taking a tremendous amount of time away from my dudes, and I’m gonna go ahead and say that father-son time is important and I don’t need to be a 3rd wheel on every one of their man dates.
So, that’s where I’m gonna start. Taking a little more time to train hard and write here. Some things may be a little different as far as your regularly scheduled programming goes and I definitely won’t blog every single day, but it’s a start. Hope you don’t mind.
Oh, and I was on a podcast. Lindsey Hein and I had a lovely chat a few weeks back and she’s sharing it on her very cool Podcast I’ll Have Another. It’s free to download (I’m #22!) from iTunes (and probably elsewhere, but I’m not savvy enough to know where). I listen to podcasts now when I run and have been listening to Lindsey’s since the beginning.
She’s had Olympians and professionals of all sorts on her show so, you know, lower your expectations for me, ok?
We didn’t get to the real reason Lindsey and I wanted to chat (pregnancy running, post-partum running, and PT stuff), but we will on the follow-up to this first interview. Have a listen and take me running with you this week! Don’t forget to leave her a note in the reviews section of the podcast.
Ok, that’s all I got. Thanks for having me back!
Now go out and run.
