Workout Love: Giveaway!!!!

Now that we’re officially into Spring marathon season, I have a question for all of you:

What’s your favorite type of running workout?

  • Long Run
  • Tempo Run
  • Hill Workout
  • Fartleks
  • Yasso 800s
  • Mile Repeats
  • Ladders
  • Progressive Run
  • Something else I’ve never heard of?

I’d have to say that my absolute hands-down favorite is the Tempo Run.

I dig having a longer run where I have a chance to warm up and then kick a little butt for  some miles and then cool down. I always feel like my cool down miles seem SO much easier than ever before and they’re usually 8-8:15s.

What I love the most about Tempo Runs is that they give my confidence. I sometimes struggle to find a happy pace, but once I do I remember than I CAN run that tempo. When the cool down miles are a piece of cake–they are really around marathon pace–I start to believe I CAN reach my goals.

I’ve shied away from hard work in the past, but that’s the old me. Maybe that’s why I dig Tempo runs so much more now: I’m not afraid to work hard and feel uncomfortable. After all, if I want to achieve what I’ve never done before, I gotta step outside of my comfort zone to do it, right?

Do it.

Do it.

Don’t go away so fast! Tell me what your favorite type of run is in the comments and be entered to win one of my favorite run accessories: a Sparkly Soul Headband for your next awesome workout! THREE winners will be chosen at random and announced this Friday.

Now go out and run!

  1. I love the long run. I love getting lost in my thoughts when it’s just me and the road for hours. I love how strong and confident I feel when I reach miles I’ve never reached before or ever dreamed possible. I love seeing how strong my mind and body are after I’ve asked them to work for 2+ hours.

  2. Tie between Tempo and Long Runs! Love feeling strong on a good fast tempo, or relaxed on an easy saturday 10 miler! Much love to Sparkly Soul!!!

  3. Fartlek! Cause it reminds me of when i ran in high school with great friends! Also, love a good sprint track workout even though I am too dead to walk out the door afterwards.

  4. I love long runs!! It’s kind of therapeutic, and there is no thought in it except to finish! I adore those undies though! Is it strange that they’re what I’m asking my hubby for for VDay instead of lingere?? The life of a runner…

  5. I love a long run–especially on a weekend morning when it’s the only thing I have to do. Give me a good playlist and some scenery and I am a happy camper!

  6. The long run, without a doubt. I love that feeling when you don’t have to focus on a specific pace and you can use the time to think and almost meditate in a way. I do my best problem-solving on long runs. Plus, unlike the easy 6, long runs have that way to make me feel really accomplished.

  8. I would say easy and long – I like the challenge of conquering X amount of miles and the feeling of accomplishment, and sometimes exhaustion, afterwards!

  10. First, I love those Oiselle t-shirts! Ok, my favorite type of run is fartleks — not only because it’s fun to say, but because they are fun to do. This is actually how I survive the dreadmill, and how I spice up over-run routes.

  11. I LOVE a solid track workout, but towards the end of a cycle, after double-digit weekends, is there anything better than seeing “easy 6” on your calendar? 🙂

  12. It’s so hard to choose! Every run serves a different purpose for me… when I want to push myself to the limit physically and mentally, there is nothing better than a track workout (800 repeats are my fave!). Something about getting into a groove and knocking out some fast speedwork feels so good. Long runs with friends or an awesome podcast are welcome leg therapy after hard workouts. No matter what kind of run, I always have to finish with a sprint though, to end the workout with an exclamation point!!

  13. I love any run that I didn’t think I would be able to finish when I started – it could be 2 miles, 6 miles, anything! It’s such a great feeling once you see how much you ran because you pushed yourself to.

  14. I love speed work! It goes by so quickly and I feel like I’ve really killed myself, in a great way. But I also love the easy “therapy” runs where I’m just getting out there to relax and think.

  15. I love an Easy 6. It took me a very long time to realize I didn’t have to push on EVERY run. During my last training cycle I discovered my love for running again in the Easy 6. I love to push and test my skills as much as the next person, but I feel I found a new level when I was able to scale back and enjoy the scene.

  16. I love love love long runs, especially on a nice day. It gives me a chance to relax and clear my head and I always feel amazing after!
